APAAR ID Not Mandatory for NEET UG 2025: NTA Clarifies

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the APAAR ID (Academic Bank of Credits ID) will not be mandatory for registering for the NEET UG 2025 examination. This update comes after a public notice issued on January 14, 2025, which earlier advised candidates to update their Aadhaar cards and link them to their APAAR IDs.

What is APAAR ID?

The APAAR ID is designed to digitally store a student’s academic credits, offering a complete record of their academic journey. While linking it with Aadhaar provides multiple benefits, it is no longer a mandatory requirement for NEET UG 2025 registration.

Alternative Registration Options

Candidates can still register for the exam using other methods, as clarified by the NTA. Details regarding these options will be shared soon.

NEET UG 2025 Exam Details

The NTA also confirmed that NEET UG 2025 will be conducted in a pen-and-paper (OMR-based) format, in a single day and single shift, disregarding some recommendations from a high-level committee.

Benefits of APAAR ID and Aadhaar Integration

Although not mandatory, linking APAAR ID with Aadhaar can simplify the application and examination process. Here’s how:

1. Streamlined Application: Aadhaar integration automates candidate information, reducing errors and making the registration process faster.

2. Efficient Identity Verification: Aadhaar helps ensure quick and accurate verification of candidates, improving the examination workflow.

3. Faster Attendance Verification: Aadhaar-based authentication speeds up check-in processes at exam centers, minimizing wait times.

4. Fraud Prevention: Aadhaar ensures unique identification of candidates, preventing identity-related fraud.

Conclusion

While APAAR ID integration is optional for NEET UG 2025, aspirants are encouraged to link it with their Aadhaar to enjoy the benefits of a smoother and more secure process. Stay tuned for further updates on alternative registration methods.
